The Zad (2024)

Synopsis

In an ancient world filled with art, gold, and honor, a commoner known by the epithet Zad the Needless shares, for the thousandth time, his literature with the artistic Ricards. Though once loved by the gods, their era has come to an end. However, not all share Zad’s noble virtues, and his closest companions question his motives. How may the legacy of Zad the Needless endure?

Foreword: The Zad (2024)

The Zad was born in my period of philosophical ponderance enabled by my dalliance with free time during my college years. It is part of a larger series of works depicting ancient worlds that had been created by a god in
search of the ultimate philosophy.

The characters of this story are not human, yet they are anthropomorphized as such. They are alloyans, beings of materials such as copper, iron, or metal—or such equivalents thereof in the far gone past before specific classifications of metals had been established by the gods who coded the universe.

But the details of the setting do not matter in this story, only the themes thereof. I hope you enjoy.

Post-Comment

The Zad was published because I could not, in a reasonable time frame, complete my real ambition for this year. I have not given up on releasing it before January.
